Frequently Asked Questions About Intense Pulsed Light Photo-facials

Aesthetic laser options can become overwhelming and there is always mixed information given thoughout the internet.  This is why I decided to give answers to some frequently asked questions about one of my favorite aesthetic laser treatments-Intense Pulsed Light Photofacials.
Frequently Asked Questions About Intense Pulsed Light Photo-facials
#1 Who is a good Candidate for Intense Pulsed Light photo-facials?
The best candidate for photo-facials is men or women who have excess pigmentation or severe sun damage such as sun-spots, brown spots, age spots, hyper-pigmentation, or slight melasma.  It is also great for treating anyone with Rosacea, redness, or broken capillaries. The best skin types for IPL photo-facials is lighter skin types, it is not an appropriate treatment for brown or black skin types.
#2 How does an Intense Pulsed Light Photo-facial work?
IPL is a light-based treatment that targets different chromophores in the skin. Chromophores such as sun spots or broken capillaries selectively absorb the laser or light energy as heat and yield the desired response. These optimal wavelengths of light clear pigmented lesions by targeting melanin. The damaged pigmented lesions are then cleared by the body. They then get slightly darker & slough off, removing the appearance of the lesion from the skin. The skin looks smooth, tone looks more even, and texture is improved.
#3 What is the downtime with Intense Pulsed Light photo-facials?
As long as it is an up to date IPL technology with a build in chilling mechanism there is minimal downtime.  Normally only slight redness for 1-6 hours and makeup can be applied immediately after the treatment.
#4 How many treatments are required with IPL photo-facials?
The number of treatments depends on the severity of sun damage and redness.  However, on average most women and men require 2-4 treatments for maximum results.

Top Ways to Eliminate Rosacea without Prescriptions

April is National Rosacea Month which is why we feel it's appropriate to discuss the top non-prescription ways to treat and control the symptoms of Rosacea. This was created to bring awareness the the symptoms of Rosacea as it effects over 16 million American men and women. What is Rosacea? Rosacea symptoms include persistent redness, easily flushing, bumps or pustules on the cheeks, chin & forehead and broken capillaries on the cheeks and chin. Rosacea can affect all skin types but individuals with fair skin who tend to flush or blush easily are believed to be at greatest risk. Often times Rosacea is treated with prescriptions such as metrogel. Here are our top ways to eliminate Rosacea without Prescriptions: Intense Pulsed Light Photofacial: IPL can safely and effectively reduce dilated blood vessels, persistent redness or flushing, and acne-like breakouts. Green Light used on handpieces such as the Palomar Max G handpiece is attracted to the redness and blood in the broken capillaries. Once the light is absorbed & transferred into heat, the redness fades & the broken capillaries constrict and fade over 2-3 weeks. While patients see an improvement after one treatment, up to 5 treatments can be needed for optimal results. A recent clinical study showed 83% of patients experienced reduced redness, 75% had less flushing and improved skin texture, and 64% reported fewer acne-like breakouts after five treatment sessions. The 3 Top Ways to Remove Sun Damage

Sun Damage Removal with Intense Pulsed Light One of the top issues that are clients come into our Orlando Medical Spa-Winter Park Laser for is sun damage skin including age spots, uneven skin tone, hyper-pigmentation and poor skin texture. Perhaps, it's because our medical spa is in Orlando Florida that we our clients have so much damage but I also think it's a generational issue as more baby boomers are seeing the effects of using baby oil in the 70's and more sun damage emerges with age. Here are the Top 3 Ways to Remove Sun Damage that we use in our Orlando Medical Spa: #1: IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photo-Facials: Intense pulsed light treatments deliver energy to target and destroy vascular and pigmented lesions associated sun damage, and age spots from face, chest, hands, legs, and arms. During the procedure, the entire treatment area is scanned with an IPL handpiece and treated with multiple passes and customized settings. A noticeable change occurs within 1 treatment, however a series of 3-5 is normally necessary for the best results. The formation of new collagen results in an increase in the elasticity and overall appearance of your skin. Pigmented lesions come to the surface and slough off. Red and blue vessels typically disappear. Sun damage is repaired. The skin simply looks younger, feels tighter and pores appear smaller. #2: Vi Peel from Kalil (chemical Peels): The Vi Peel is safe for all skin types and uses Vitamin C, Phenol (for numbing), Salicylic acid, TCA, Tretinoic Acid (Retin-A) to remove the top layers of sun damaged skin and reveal new fresh skin with a more even skin tone and tighter pores. #3 Pharmaceutical Grade Skin-Care Especially Pigment Lightening Serums such as Hydroquinone: Here is one of our favorites from Glytone http://www.glytone-usa.com/products/learn-more-about-glytone-products/details/category/skin-type/product/clarifying-gel-rx/beauty.html Clarifying Gel, Rx Clarifying Gel, Rx A nighttime gel formulated with 4% Hydroquinone helps to lighten dark patches on the skin For more information on how to remove sun damage contact our Orlando medical spa at www.winterparklaser.com or call (4o7) 601-1185.
