The Benefits of Combination Cosmetic Treatments
After running a medical spa for 8 years-Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center in Orlando I have come to realize that surgical and non-surgical treatments are always stronger when paired together. Every client comes in to a med-spa or Plastic Surgeon's office and of course wants the ONE treatment that will make them look 10 years younger instantly. Unfortunately that doesn't really exist. A lot of times clients who have years of damage want to fix one area at a time with Botox or fillers and while they get a good result it is difficult to tell because the rest of the integrity and condition of their skin is waning.
When cosmetic treatments are combined either surgical & non-surgical or just non-surgical treatments the results are much better. Here are some examples of great combination treatments we do at our Orlando Medical Spa-Winter Park Laser.
#1 My favorite combo: Chemical peels & Laser resurfacing or IPL Intense Pulsed Light Photo-facials
Why it works: Chemical peels will exfoliate dead skin leaving a fresher, brighter surface with tighter pores, while the laser will go deeper to stimulate collagen, elastyn & erase sun spots-awesome in combination together!
#2 Velashape II & Liposuction or tummy tuck
Why it works: After lipo or a tummy tuck lymphatic drainage treatments such as the Velashape II are great to smooth out any lumps & to stimulate circulation & lymphatic drainage for better, smoother results.
#3 Botox with Ablative Laser Resurfacing for crows feet
Why it works: The botox relaxes the muscles around the eyes creating a flatter surface for the laser to work on, giving it a more even surface allows for a deeper & better coverage of the laser beams around the eyes for a better result.

Cosmetic Fillers are Great Alternative to Surgical Facelift
Injectable procedures offer a wonderful alternative to invasive surgical procedures such as a facelift. Many injectable cosmetic fillers offer results that can last for over one year, and fillers are quick, painless, and requires little or no recovery time.
We perform anti-aging consultations on a daily basis and the most common question is what is the difference between all of the types of injectables on the market and which one is best for me. This should give everyone some insight.
The first injectable procedure many people think of is BOTOX Cosmetic. BOTOX Cosmetic is a purified protein comprised of botulinum toxin type A. The main ingredient in BOTOX Cosmetic relaxes contractions in certain facial muscles. These contractions normally lead to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines.
BOTOX Cosmetic has a long history of proven results, and provides a smoother appearance for three to four months. However, dermal fillers and BOTOX accomplish different results: BOTOX relaxes wrinkles and is best for forehead and around the eyes while while dermal fillers restore lost facial volume and are best for lips, and lines around the mouth or naso-labial folds.
There are many dermal fillers on the market. Some of the most popular ones are as follows:
- Juvederm, Restylane, & Perlane - They all contain hyaluronic acid (Perlane & Juvederm Ultra Plus have larger molecules for a deeper fill) and they work to plump up the areas in your skin which have lost volume to promote a softer, more youthful appearance. Depending on the treatment area as well as your unique skin, a single treatment of either of these fillers can provide results for 9-14 months.
- Radiesse - a smooth gel injectable filled with microspheres of calcium hydroxyapatite great for very deep naso-labial folds. A single 1.5cc syringe of this filler can last 12-16 months.
Both BOTOX Cosmetic and facial fillers can be used to reduce the appearance of fine lines, deep wrinkles, and creases from almost any area of your face. In addition, Juvederm and Restylane can both be used for lip augmentation.
No single solution is best for every patient. Talk to your local medical spa, nurse or plastic surgeon about the best option for you, also research who in your state is licensed to perform these treatments and that they are supervised by a Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist.

Why Botox is "In" Amongst the Younger Crows
When Botox arrived on the market 10 years ago, it was 40-50 years old with wrinkles that clamored to their local medical spa to try out the new anti-aging elixir in markets mostly like L.A. or New York. Fast forward 10 years later and Botox is as popular as a facial and available nationwide. Also, now knowing the preventative benefit of Botox the younger demographic is now a large sector of frequent Botox users.
Women and men as young as 25 are now having Botox Cosmetic Injections. However, they are not just to remove wrinkles they are using the wonder drug to prevent future wrinkles. Botox is the only cosmetic treatment that can relax your muscles that create elaborate expressions such as squinting. By doing this one can no longer flex the facial muscles & make wrinkles appear or make them worse.
This is actually a smart trick, those who start out younger with Botox will need less aggressive procedures in the future when they age and start to have real wrinkles. Often in the medical spa business I have so many clients who are 45 and have never done anything to their skin-they have a hard time understanding how many treatments and the amount of money it will take to correct their issues compared to those who have taken care of their skin they often just need a little Botox or a chemical peel to freshen things up.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacial Risks & Benefits
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacial Risks & Benefits
After working around medical spas and laser treatments for 7 years, my favorite treatment is IPL (Intense Pulsed LIght) Photo-facials. You see huge instant results with this 20 minute safe procedure and go straight back to work, wear makeup and have no down-time. This technology has continued to improve and Palomar is the "Mercedes" of IPL laser technology. There are mainly benefits, but of course a few minor risks with this treatment such as swelling, redness, and facial flushing, are minor and usually disappear within a few hours or days of the procedure.
Benefits of IPL™ Photofacial
The benefits of intense pulsed light therapy cover almost the entire spectrum of cosmetic dermatology. When performed by a qualified skin care specialist, IPL™ photofacial treatment can help nearly all aspects of skin aesthetics and structure.
The treatment can help repair small blood vessels that have become visible, or help eradicate sun spots or other pigmentation irregularities.
IPL™ treatment can help combat acne problems such as oil and p. bacterias&can shrink large pores.
IPL™ photofacial therapy is also excellent at treating Rosacea, & any redness in skin.
By treating a slightly deeper layer of the skin, IPL™ photofacials stimulate collagen growth by simulating minor dermal injuries, thereby helping to improve skin texture.
The cost of IPL photofacial therapy is usually minor compared to most lasers and results are seen in as little as 1-5 treatments on average.
Another benefit of IPL™ photorejuvenation procedures is that they allow for additional treatment with facials, or chemical peels that target the outermost layer of skin, the epidermis. Since IPL™ photofacials target deeper layers of the skin, they can be safely performed in conjunction with other, more superficial treatments.
IPL™ Photofacial Risks
There are relatively few long-term risks associated with intense pulsed light treatment. Short-term potential side effects of IPL™ photofacial treatment include very minor swelling, redness, and increased visibility of small capillaries. These symptoms usually begin to disappear within a few hours of treatment.
This treatment is only safe for certain skin types so consult with your skin care professional.

Beware of "Bargain Botox Deals" online or from friends
The cosmetic industry has changed and grown greatly over the past decade and with Botox Cosmetic becoming the #1 non-surgical cosmetic treatment in the US for the past 5 years it is no surprise that many people are now looking to try the treatment. Unfortunately due to the economy many are turning to "bargain basement deals" from on-line sites or "at home" parties from friends. While Botox Cosmetic is a cosmetic procedure it is still a medical procedures and should be held to the same standards as any other medical procedure would. First of all, never purchase Botox on-line and always make sure that the Botox Cosmetic you are getting comes from Allergan (the only maker of Botox cosmetic) there is a hologram on the bottle to look for and you can ask to watch the medical practitioner mix it in front of you.
Second of all you wouldn't purchase brain surgery at 50% off so why would you do it for a treatment that is injecting something in to your body? Botox Cosmetic is an amazing treatment but should only be performed by a certified and licensed medical professional in a licensed medical spa, or medical office who are not only licensed but insured, when you have it done at someones home there is no medical malpractice insurance covering that. Do your research and look for reviews when selecting a location for Botox Cosmetic not just for the "cheapest deal."
Here is a similar article on the same problem in the UK: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2054318/Beware-Bargain-Botox-Online-deals-cosmetic-injections-misleading-unsafe.html Beware the 'Bargain Botox': Online deals for cosmetic injections 'misleading and unsafe'

Why More Men are Getting Botox
Over the past 8 years in our Medical Spa (Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center) in Orlando we have seen the number of men that walk through our door for cosmetic treatments increase every year. It started with laser hair removal-a lot of hairy backs or ingrown hairs for beards but has steadily increased in facial treatments, acne laser treatments, stretchmarks and the most recent cosmetic increase for men has been Cosmetic Fillers such as Juvederm, Radiesse, Perlane and of course the injectable Botox Cosmetic. Often times it is a wife, or girl friend that drags the man in but after he tries the treatment once he continues to come back all on his own and to refer other men! As societal norms rule "looks do matter" and many men especially single men are trying to make it count, below was a news story from NBC in south Florida about the increase in men and Botox Cosmetic. It is no surprise as Botox Cosmetic is the #1 non-surgical cosmetic treatment in the world than men are finally jumping on the band-wagon, after all they have wrinkles and insecurities just like women. It just took a few brave men to pave the way! For more information on Botox at our medical spa go to www.winterparklaser.com You can watch this video on the man getting Botox at http://www.ksn.com/content/news/health/story/More-men-getting-Botox-injections/qls6UF_bEkaVg-wzmJC7iQ.cspx
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (NBC News) – Barry Goren recently jumped back in the dating game, but he knows he has to step it up if he's going to meet the right girl.
So he decided to go to Dr. Shino Bay Aguilera to get Botox.Does he think it makes him less manly? No!Barry is not alone.
National statistics show some 300,000 men received tiny injections of Botox or some cosmetic treatments last year. And because of that, lots of "dudes" are not only opting for what's affectionately called "boy-tox" these days, but even more males are asking for something called: Sculptra.
There are differences though as to how men and women approach getting such services.
Dr. Aguilera says guys tend to be more clandestine, more covert.
The American male grooming market is worth $3.5 billion a year and a larger portion is now going to cosmetic procedures. A number that doctors say is sure to continue to surge.

Undesired face and body hair is not just annoying and awkward, it can also be embarrassing. There are a number of ways to remove that unpleasant hair starting from electrolysis, threading, waxing and shaving. Whichever method you decide on, it’ll surely be a long, never-ending and difficult process, not to mention distressing and uncomfortable. laser hair removal is the solution to this difficulty. IPL hair removal is a safe, effective and everlasting solution. Similarly , it is more comfortable than other methods.
laser hair removal is the most recent technique that can help you look and feel your best. IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light. Although this process is not really laser, it works in a similar manner. This non-coherent laser requires the use of a particular light beam which causes long-term damage to hair follicles so that hair will not regrow. Filtered light is delivered from a device or hand piece into the skin, where it targets dark material like the pigment found in the hair. This results in thermal or mechanical damage to cells and connecting tissues that surrounds the roots of the hair while avoiding the encompassing tissues and skin from injury.
One strong feature of IPL hair removal is the lower price of the procedure. This is among the biggest reasons explaining why laser hair removal is so popular in the hair removal industry. IPL treatments are cheaper than the normal price of laser hair removal. Additionally, this program was specifically built to cover giant areas of skin in a brief period of time. This indicates that treatment on body parts for instance the back and the leg can be attained in a tiny part of the time required with standard lasers.
As an extra feature, people who have successfully undergone this procedure felt only some modest form of pain and agony. laser hair removal is less unpleasant than other methods. laser hair removal can function on almost all types of skin though better results are produced in persons with darker hair colour and lighter skin color. The even better news is the fact that You’ll find presently IPL machines that deal with different skin colors.
With the plentiful benefits and benefits of laser hair removal, it’s no surprise why more and more men and women from all around the planet are turning to this technique. Although it is comparatively a newcomer in the hair removal scene, the IPL hair removal has been famous for lasting and long term results and in manufacturing glorious aesthetic outcome. Also, buying equipmentfor this is straightforward as they are available on the web. Tagged at fair costs, purchasing one will turn out to be a smart investment.

What Really Happens at a Medical Spa
This is a great article!
What Really Happens At A Medical Spa?
Didi Smith on November 18, 2010 — Leave a Comment
Nowadays, cosmetic medical treatments are in demand. This is attributable what we always see on tv and magazines. Perfect pictures became a regular element of our way of life that it is subconsciously imprinted on our minds that we should be perfect in every way. Imperfections are frowned upon and they are thought of as something you need to enhance. This is really the reason why cosmetic medical methods are very popular not just to celebrities but to common people as well.
Most of us have this belief that being perfect has its advantages and is definitely a plus. Unlike before, people getting cosmetic treatments are not so open in regards to this, but these days most people are preaching about it. So why do people make an effort in order to be perfect in how they appear? Well, it is our human nature to want something beautiful. We always choose things which are better than others. Naturally, this is often applied to how we look. We believe that if we look better than others and when we have no imperfections then things will be easier for us. This is most evident in social situations.
People are initially drawn to those who look good. One other reason is that it’s thought to be an easy option. Rather than spending lots of time to attempt to look great, these treatments last for a short time or an hour or so. This is also in correlation with our busy lifestyle. We don’t wish to spend lots of time on something and when there’s a faster method of doing it. This is why cosmetic medical treatments are extremely popular.
There are lots of of procedures to choose from nowadays. You will find surgical and non-surgical treatments. The ones that require surgery includes the traditional plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Probably the most prevalent aesthetic surgeries are mammoplasty consisting of breast enhancement, breast reduction and breast lifts; abdominoplasty which is popularly known as tummy tuck; blepharoplasty which reshape the eyelids and applying a permanent liner; buttock augmentation or what we commonly refer to as butt implants; liposuction which removes fat from the body, among others.
Non-surgical procedures include laser treatments, chemical peel, botox, microdermabrasion, facelifts, and a lot more. These are just some treatments we can choose from to get the perfection we want. But nevertheless, we should always remember that beauty is in the eye of beholder. We might not think we are beautiful however, many people may think otherwise.
If you are thinking about understanding what dermatologists and various medical doctors operating nonsurgical cosmetic medical spas think of the next IPL and aesthetic fractional skin systems by Syneron, Sciton, Alma, Cutera, Solta, Palomar, Candela, Cynosure, Lumenis , or applications such as Thermage skin tightening, Smart lipo, Restylane, tumescent liposuction and photofacials, remember to stop by the aesthetic fractional laser skin forums on Medical Spa MD, a community of health professionals practicing aesthetic medicine.
Medical Spa MD is a community of Plastic Surgeons, Cosmetic Dermatologists, and Aesthetic Physicians with more than 4,500 physician members. Medical Spa MD offers Thermage and provides information on non-surgical cosmetic medical technologies and treatments.

The number of treatments depends on the size of the tattoo, the amount and type of ink used, and the depth of the ink in the skin. Each treatment will fade the tattoo and up to a 95% removal rate can be achieved for many tattoos. All treatments are performed 4-6 weeks apart and have minimal downtime but are covered by a bandage with ointment for a few days on average. Call to Schedule a free consultation if interested in pricing.
All treatments are performed by Licensed Nurse Practitioner Sandy Hutnick with over 15 years of experience, under supervision of Plastic Surgeon and Medical Director: James A. Farrell M.D. Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center is located at 1215 W. Fairbanks Ave., Orlando FL 32804.
