Why The Younger Millenials are Turning to Botox

botox younger women
When Botox Cosmetic first gained FDA approval in the early 1990's it was marketed to an older demographic of mainly women in their fifties and sixties.  While that demographic is still heavily getting their Botox the atmosphere is changing, as more men and more younger women are turning to Botox at a much younger age.  In our Orlando Medical Spa Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center the age demographic of our clients has progressively gotten younger and of course more men are coming in that never before.
So why are the Younger Millenials turning to Botox more than ever before now?
There are many different benefits to Botox than just erasing wrinkles.  In the industry, we now know the preventative benefit of Botox for the younger demographic which is now a large sector of frequent Botox users.
Women and men as young as 25-30 years old are now having Botox Cosmetic Injections regularly (every 3-4 motnhs). However, they are not just doing it to remove wrinkles, they are also using Botox to prevent more wrinkles.  Botox is the only cosmetic treatment that can relax your muscles that create elaborate expressions such as squinting.  By doing this one can no longer flex the facial muscles & make wrinkles appear or make them worse.
Those who start Botox at a younger age are actually pretty smart & saving themselves money in the long run, as they won't need as much Botox when their older. Often in the medical spa industry I find that older clients who have never tried Botox or aesthetic treatments need a large amount of work and sometimes don't understand what it takes to ease the wrinkles or the expense.  Those who have always taken care of themselves in a preventive measure at a younger age tend to need less Botox and treatments in general.

How Latisse Makes You look Younger

After running a medical spa in Orlando-Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center for 10 years I have seen my share of cosmetic products hit the market over the years.  However, my favorite product by far has been LATISSE®.  LATISSE® is a Prescription grade cosmetic product created by Allergan.  LATISSE® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% was created for women and men dealing with hypertrichosis (a lack of lashes).  I want to address how Latisse makes you look younger.
How Latisse Makes you look younger:
When you use Latisse for at least 16 weeks it is clinically proven to make your lashes up to 25% longer, 106% fuller, and 18% darker.  While all of these are benefits it also makes you look younger.  Latisse makes you look younger because lashes are naturally thinner and shorter when you are older, and they are full and long when you are young.  So when you reverse this process, the look of longer, fuller lashes gives a more youthful appearance.
Latisse makes you look younger because when there is focus on long, luxurious lashes it takes focus away from wrinkles around the eye.  It also makes the eyes look brighter.

Pharmaceutical-Grade Skincare Vs. Over the Counter

skinmedica products On average women spend over $426 billion per year in the U.S. on beauty products, therefore don't you want to be getting your money's worth out of those products? Women and men are inundated with skincare products at the drugstore, mall, online, and doctor's office or spa. So it can be confusing to understand what to buy and where to spend your money. So as a medical spa manager (Winter Park Laser) I often explain to clients why they need to be using pharmaceutical grade skincare and why that $150 cream they bought at the mall isn't working, so I want to do the same for everyone. Why over the counter products (even expensive ones) don't work as well as pharmaceutical grade skincare products. #1 Level of Penetration: OTC (over the counter) products can not penetrate & end up hydrating your sheets as they cannot penetrate the outer most layer of the skin. Pharmacuetical grade skincare including cosmecutical lines contain active ingredients that can break down that rough texture beforebeing completely absorbed. #2 Amount of Active Ingredients: Cosmecutical products have a much higher percentage of active ingredients compared to OTC because they are FDA approved to have more & are not watered down with preservatives. Active ingredients are those that actually DO something to change your skin such as lighten brown spots or tighten skin. #3 Price does not allocate effectiveness: There a lot of people that thing if it's expensive it works & this isn't always true. There are many "mall lines" that carry creams that are $200 or more and are much less effective than $65 pharmaceutical grade products. The conclusion is that some Over The Counter product might work but you will see minimal results in comparison to stronger Pharmaceutical grade products. Bottom Line: * If you can purchase a product anywhere other than from a Physician or Esthetic Practice, then it’s not a Pharmaceutical grade product. *Cosmeceuticals have the ability to actually change the appearance of your skin by lightening pigment, tightening skin and reducing wrinkles. *Cosmeceuticals have a higher concentration of Active ingredients which makes them stronger. *Cosmeceuticals are often more affordable (since they don’t have large marketing budgets). Winter Park Laser's Favorite Cosmeceutical Brands: Skinmedica & Glytone, but there are many great ones available! Let's face it-we've all had those rough nights that result in dark circles under our eyes the next morning, but for some people this is a constant issue that a "good night of sleep" just won't cure. In our Orlando Medical Spa-Winter Park Laser, dark under-eye circles & bags are a constant complaint. So here are our top treatments to help eliminate or reduce dark under-eye circles, wrinkles & bags. #1 Belotero Balance Dermal Filler injected into the tear-trough area Why? Belotero is a hyaluronic acid filler that is already hydrated-which means that we don't have to "under-fill" the tear trough area to see the result, it also allows you to go much higher in the dermal tissue. Belotero costs around $475-$525 per syringe for a 1 ML pre-filled syringe. We numb the area topically but here is also lidocaine mixed into every syringe for a comfortable procedure. The tear-trough area is sensitive to slight bruising and swelling may occur but overall there is little down-time. The results typically last around a year or 10-14 months on average. The result of Belotero in the tear-trough area can give clients a more youthful look, with less hollowness, dark circles & wrinkles in the eye area also making them look more rested. #2 EnerPeel for Eyes by Glytone-Series of 4 Chemical Peels just around the eyes & eye lid Why? This peel is especially designed for the eye area & combines Lactic acid (great for pigment issues) with TCA (tri-chloracetic acid) great for exfoliation and stimulating collagen. The results are a significant increase in skin firmness around eyes, Decrease in fine lines, wrinkles and coarse crow's feet around eyes, & a Decrease in dark circles. For more information on top treatments to combat dark under-eye circles contact Winter Park Laser located at 1155 N Kentucky Ave Winter Park FL 32789 at www.winterparklaser.com or call (407) 601-1185.

What is a "Liquid Facelift" using Dermal Fillers

After running a medical spa-Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center for 9 years it is clear that Medical Spas are only becoming more popular. This is mainly because more people are opting for non-surgical options. Decades ago women and men were only turning to surgery for face-lifts, not my office specializes in a newer, no down-time non-surgical procedure know as the the "liquid face-lift" which utilizes various types of dermal fillers and injectables such as Botox cosmetic to lift, and tighten the face, & give plumpness back to cheeks in 20-45 minutes with little down-time and normally for around $1000-$1500 with results last a little over a year. Winter Park Laser mainly uses Juvederm Ultra Plus XC for our "liquid facelifts" in Orlando. A "liquid face-lift" using cosmetic dermal fillers such as Juvederm (a hyaluronic acid product) can be performed on several areas of the face or focus on "trouble spots" such as the deep naso-labial folds (laugh lines) around the nose and mouth. This treatment replaces volume lost giving one high cheeks again, improving the hollowness under eyes, lifting brows, lifting jowls and plumping lips, giving back the youthful look of full cheeks, lips, and less wrinkles. Once corrected this procedure can make women and men look 10-15 years younger instantly in 20-45 minutes. A non-surgical Liquid Face Lift involves the use of advanced dermal fillers, usually in combination with BOTOX Cosmetc. The injectables used are normally Juvederm, Perlane, Restylane or Radiesse. The only possible side effect is slight temporary swelling for 24-48 hours and a small risk of swelling but one could go back to work immediately unlike a surgical face-lift with weeks of recovery.

Why Exfoliation is Necessary for Healthy Skin

Exfoliation is extremely vital to the overall look and health of the skin on the face and body. However, many people do it incorrectly, do it too often, or don't exfoliate enough. Exfoliation is beneficial because it removes those cells that are clinging on, revealing the fresher, younger skin cells below. Exfoliation is necessary because as you age dead skin cells start to pile up on the skin causing dull uneven looking skin and preventing products from being able to properly penetrate into the skin giving it the necessary benefits. Exfoliation should only be done weekly and not everyday. Exfoliation is the removal of the oldest dead skin cells that cling to the skin's outermost surface, or epidermis. There are many different types of exfoliation, including chemical peels, manual with scrubs and dermaplaning. Chemical Exfoliation uses enzymes, alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) or betahydroxy acids (BHAS) loosen the glue-like substance that holds the cells together, allowing them to slough away. Facial peels are a form of chemical exfoliation. Chemical peels can be mild or stronger levels of exfoliation. Dermaplaning is an exfoliating treatment that provides an alternative to microdermabrasion and is a good choice for anyone with extremely sensitive skin. The dermaplaning treatment is performed by an experienced aesthetician who uses a modified blade to gently exfoliate the outer layer of dead skin cells. A noticeable improvement is immediate with smoother texture and fresh skin appearance. Hair returns softly and will not become coarser because of the treatment. Even products penetrate the skin better following this treatment and a chemical peel can even be performed directly after for deeper penetration. However you choose to exfoliate always consult with a professional, and remember if you have Rosacea or sensitive skin stay away from harsh scrubs or constant exfoliation.
