Facial Peels-Are they all scary and created equal?

Facial Peels have gotten a bad reputation ever since "Sex in the City"-every girl remembers when Samantha got a "chemical peel" and her face was bright red, she looked horrible, her top layer of skin peeled off and she couldn't go out for days with out wearing that gaudy huge hat! The type of peel Samantha had was obviously a very severe peel-perhaps a Jessner, or TCA-and is usally for very mature, damaged skin and can offer great results for some people. However, there are many "chemical" peels out there that give you amazing results with minimal to no down-time. The purpose of most peels is exfoliate off the top layer of dead skin non-abrasively, even out your skin-tone, lighten pigmented lesions, shrink your pores, and tighten your skin. You want to find a licensed Esthetician who knows what she is doing! In the right hands, your skin will look fresher, tighter, and younger within a series of facials and peels. It is also great for pre-laser and post-laser treatments as well because it will allow the laser to penetrate deeper, and faster, thus giving you better results! Some of Winter Park Laser's favorite peels include; Mandelic, Glycolic, Salycilic, and Lactic Peels! For additional guidance, schedule a complimentary consultation.

What is the difference between Fraxel and Palomar Fractional Resurfacing?

While both offer fractional skin resurfacing treatments, they are very different in the way that Palomar fractional resurfacing is non-ablative and offers little to no downtime in comparison to the one to two weeks of downtime with Fraxel. The Palomar Fractional laser, needs no blue dye or anesthetic which makes the treatment qicker, and less painful to the client. The Palomar Fractional laser also has a built-in cooling mechanism for the skin so that there is very minor discomfort during treatment. The only side effects are slight redness that normally last less than 24 hours. For mor information please contact jennifer@winterparklaser.com

There are so many injectables now, which one is natural and lasts the longest?

While Botox is the most commonly referenced dermal filler for lines and wrinkles on your forehead and other areas, there are many new dermal fillers which are more natural and last longer since Botox typically only lasts up to 4 months. One of these dermal fillers is Restylane. Restylane (hyluronic acid) is an FDA approved form of human collagen used to fill fine lines and wrinkles on the face giving a more plump, younger look, usually around the nose and mouth but also great for crow's feet or forehead. The results usually last up to 6 months, twice as long as botox! Make sure there is a doctor (MD)administering all injections. For example, at Winter Park Laser our Medical Director Jan V. Karlin M.D. is the only one administering injections. For more information go to www.winterparklaser.com

Are there any Non-Invasive Ways to Fight Cellulite?

Yes, Dermosonic treatments are a revolutionary way to get rid of cellulite in any unwanted areas without liposuction or any other invasive treatment. Everyone has cellulite (more than 80%), and no one talks about how much it really bothers him or her! Cellulite can be caused by many factors such as; diet, exercise, genetic predisposition and inevitable lifetime hormone changes. Dermosonic is unique because it is the one thing cellulite responds to when weight loss, exercise, and creams fail. There is also no bleeding, blood clotting, or bandages that must be worn when going through Dermosonic. Dermosonic works by using an ultrasound (which is why is differs from endermology) and vacuum pressure tool that gently massage the surface of the skin to temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite. The ultrasound warms the underlying layers of epidermis and dermis, which prepare the tissue for the benefits of the vacuum. The Dermosonic then closes the gap between the two forces that created the previous dimpled appearance to reduce the appearance of the cellulite. This procedure can be performed on any one of any size on the buttocks, thighs, arms, or stomach area. There are few Med Spas that carry this machine (Winter Park Laser is one of them). It has amazing results for many people.
