Why The Younger Millenials are Turning to Botox

botox younger women
When Botox Cosmetic first gained FDA approval in the early 1990's it was marketed to an older demographic of mainly women in their fifties and sixties.  While that demographic is still heavily getting their Botox the atmosphere is changing, as more men and more younger women are turning to Botox at a much younger age.  In our Orlando Medical Spa Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center the age demographic of our clients has progressively gotten younger and of course more men are coming in that never before.
So why are the Younger Millenials turning to Botox more than ever before now?
There are many different benefits to Botox than just erasing wrinkles.  In the industry, we now know the preventative benefit of Botox for the younger demographic which is now a large sector of frequent Botox users.
Women and men as young as 25-30 years old are now having Botox Cosmetic Injections regularly (every 3-4 motnhs). However, they are not just doing it to remove wrinkles, they are also using Botox to prevent more wrinkles.  Botox is the only cosmetic treatment that can relax your muscles that create elaborate expressions such as squinting.  By doing this one can no longer flex the facial muscles & make wrinkles appear or make them worse.
Those who start Botox at a younger age are actually pretty smart & saving themselves money in the long run, as they won't need as much Botox when their older. Often in the medical spa industry I find that older clients who have never tried Botox or aesthetic treatments need a large amount of work and sometimes don't understand what it takes to ease the wrinkles or the expense.  Those who have always taken care of themselves in a preventive measure at a younger age tend to need less Botox and treatments in general.

The benefit of exfoliation

chemical peel face
In our Orlando Medical Spa-Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center, I must use the word "exfoliation" fifty times a day to clients because it is my favorite word & activity!!  Exfoliation can change everything in a woman or man's skin including texture, pore size, acne, pigmentation, and dullness.  Unfortunately, many people never exfoliate their skin, or do not do it correctly, which is sad because they are many the boat on it's effectiveness.  While, laser skin resurfacing and aesthetic injectables are so amazing in my opinion exfoliation is still necessary to enhance these procedures and improve skin texture.
Exfoliation is essential because at any age dead skin cells start to pile up on the skin which cause dull uneven skin tone & texture even preventing many skincare products penetrating properly.  Skin exfoliation should not only be done on the face but the body as well and at least on a weekly basis.  Exfoliation is the removal of the oldest dead skin cells that cling to the skin's outermost surface, or epidermis.
Exfoliation is easy with new medical grade skincare products that contain glycolics, exfoliating beads, or with medical grade chemical peels and dermaplaning.
Here are the Top Methods of Exfoliation:
Chemical Peel Exfoliation uses various enzymes, alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) or betahydroxy acids (BHAS) loosen the glue-like substance that holds the cells together, allowing them to slough away. Facial chemical peels are a form of chemical exfoliation. Chemical peels can be mild or stronger levels of exfoliation.
Dermaplaning is another new and amazing exfoliating treatment that provides an alternative to microdermabrasion and is a good choice for anyone with extremely sensitive skin. The dermaplaning treatment is performed by an experienced aesthetician who uses a modified blade to gently exfoliate the outer layer of dead skin cells. A noticeable improvement is immediate with smoother texture and fresh skin appearance. Hair returns softly and will not become coarser because of the treatment. Even products penetrate the skin better following this treatment and a chemical peel can even be performed directly after for deeper penetration.
Medical Grade Exfoliation Skincare products are those you purchase in a physician's office that you use at home once a week.  Typically they have various glycolic, or other AHA/BHA's in them to slough off dead skin.  Retinol is always a must product for constant exfoliation.

What is Melasma & How to Treat It

vi peel melasma before afterelasma is a term that has become more commonplace over the past decade especially in regions such as Florida with an excess of sun exposure.  Melasma is often referred to as "the mask of pregnancy" because it is usually caused by hormone changes especially with pregnancy, birth control or menopause, and is made increasingly worse by sun exposure.  Melasma can also be caused by medications or brought on by post imflammatory hyperpigmentation due to certain burns of laser treatments.  Melasma generally occurs when estrogen and/or progesterone stimulate pigmentation hormones, causing dark brown irregular sized patches on the face that are normally rather large.   Melasma is most common in ethnic skin types especially hispanic or meditteranean although it can occur in light skin types as well. Genetic predisposition may make one more susceptible to melasma, and thyroid dysfunction may also increase susceptibility.
Since our medical spa Winter Park Laser is located in Florida we see a lot of Melasma due to the to the amount of sun exposure and the high amount of hispanic population in Florida. Melasma can be very difficult to treat and the results rely heavily on patient compliance and the type of maintenance done by the patient.  Here are some of the top ways to treat and maintain melasma.
#1 The Vi PeelL this is a strong chemical peel safe for all skin types to treat melasma.  It is a proprietary blend of TCA, Retinoic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Phenol, Vitamin C and a mineral blend.
#2 At Home Skincare: It is crucial to use Skin Lightening Treatment products such as Hydroquinone bleaching creams, or Skinmedica lytera which will help to suppress the underlying pigmentation and prevent more patches of melasma from surfacing.
#3 Limited Sun Exposure: Sun can make Melasma worst so the more one stays away from sun by wearing a full broad spectrum minimum spf 30 everyday and reapplying,  and wearing large sunglasses and large hats to protect your skin.

Why Dermal Fillers are the new Facelift

unamed
Dermal Fillers have been around for nearly 2 decades and each company continues to come out with better dermal fillers that last longer and do more.  It is because of this that dermal fillers have become an alternative to surgical procedures such as face-lifts.  The first cosmetic dermal filler on the market was Restylane, since then  Perlane, Belotero, Radiesse, Juvederm UltraXC, Juvederm Ultra PlusXC and Juvederm Voluma have all come onto the market. In our Orlando medical spa Winter Park Laser dermal fillers have become the hottest aesthetic trend in the US over the past five years.
So what is a dermal filler? Dermal filler helps to diminish facial lines & replace volume in the face because as we age the face naturally breaks down fat.  Then the facial skin is stretched out and sags. Dermal fillers can be very helpful in those with early signs of aging.
So why are dermal fillers the new facelift? Cosmetic dermal fillers require no downtime and give amazing results by filling in volume lost in the cheeks, lips, and smile lines as well as erasing wrinkles, or filling in deep scars.  The #1 cosmetic dermal filler in the United States is Juvederm Ultra PlusXC by Allergan.  The beauty of dermal fillers over surgery is that they cost a fraction of the cost, only take 45 minutes to perform, and give an amazing rejuvenation to the face making it look years younger.  The only downside is that they are temporary however there are new longer lasting fillers such as Juvederm VolumaXC.  JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is the first and only FDA-approved injectable gel to instantly add volume to your cheek area to correct age-related volume loss in adults over the age of 21. It can provide you contour and a subtle lift for up to two years with optimal treatment.

Aesthetic Solutions for Dark Under Eye Circles

glytone eye peelDark circles are a major complaint for at least 65% of the women and men who come into my office and has been for the past 11 years at Orlando medical spa Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center.  Dark circles occur for many reasons.  Sometimes it is for reasons that are difficult to treat such as hereditary reasons, or sinus infections.  Usually dark circles occur from lack of sleep, and are frequently shadowing caused from hollow tear troughs or hollow cheeks.  Whatever the reason for dark circles the good news it that there are aesthetic non-invasive procedures to help reduce the appearance of dark circles long term.
Here are the top 3 aesthetic solutions for dark under eye circles that actually work. .
#1 Belotero Balance® or Juvederm UltraXC® dermal filler injected into the tear-trough area between your orbital bone & cheeks.
Why? Belotero Balance® is a hyaluronic acid filler that comes fully hydrated-which means that the product doesn't have to be "under-filled" in the tear trough area for safety reasons to see the result, it also allows the injector to inject higher in the dermal tissue which lessens risk of "tindle effect-bluish tint".  Belotero Balance® costs around $475-$550 per syringe for a 1 ML pre-filled syringe.  The tear trough area is typically numbed with topical cream first and pre-filled with Lidocaine for an even more comfortable procedure.
The tear-trough area is the most sensitive facial area to inject so slight bruising and swelling may occur but overall this is a minimally invasive treatment with little side effects or downtime. The results typically last 10-13 months on average. The result of Belotero in the tear-trough area can give clients a more youthful look, with less hollowness, dark circles & wrinkles in the eye area also making them look more rested.
#2 Glytone EnerPeel: A chemical peel designed specifically to target under eye darkening as well as wrinkles and loose skin around the eyes.
Why?  This peel is especially designed for the eye area & combines Lactic acid (great for pigment issues) with TCA (tri-chloracetic acid) great for tightening loose skin and stimulating collagen.  The results are a significant increase in skin firmness around eyes, Decrease in fine lines, wrinkles and coarse crow's feet around eyes, &  a Decrease in dark circles.
#3 Skinmedica TNS Illuminating Eye Cream: No matter what in-office treatments you have performed it is still important what you do at home.
Why? It is important to use an eye cream to keep the area around the eyes hydrated, and the illuminating eye cream has light flecks and growth factors to lighten dark circles & tighten skin around the eye area.

Favorite Celebrity Cosmetic Treatments

vanessa williams botox
I am writing this blog in honor of the awards season when you see nothing but fresh faced celebrities that only seem to look younger every year.  While celebrities want you think that they are naturally blessed with the best genetics in the world, most of them have had a little help.  So what cosmetic treatments are these celebrities utilizing that make them look so flawless.
Here are top non-surgical favorite celebrity cosmetic treatments:
#1 Botox Cosmetic: So sure there are a few celebs who claim they have never used Botox (as their forehead doesn't move) but there are many who have now embraced it and recognize that their smooth forehead is due to Botox such celebs include Jenny McCarthy, Vanessa Williams, and Kelly Rippa just to name a few.  Celebs love Botox as do most people because it is a quick, painless, has no downtime (so noone will know) and it works!  In 20 minutes they can have a treatment that kicks in within 1-2 weeks & smoothes out their wrinkles
#2 Dermal Fillers: While people would find out in hollywood if a celeb had a surgical facelift, however, a liquid facelift can be done in 45 minutes and a celeb can leave the office looking fresh as a daisy.  Dermal fillers such as Juvederm Voluma, Juvederm Ultra Plus, and Radiesse can be injected into the mid face to give back lost facial volume to areas such as cheeks will lift up sagging jowles and minimize deep smile lines.  Celebs who admit to using dermal fillers are Kris Jenner and Courtney Cox.
#3 Laser Skin Resurfacing: If you ever see celebs with smooth skin free of pores, wrinkles or scars that are older than they look or mention severe acne scarring as an adolescent they have probably had laser skin resurfacing.  Lasers like fractional non-ablative or ablative skin resurfacing utilize heat to cause superficial trauma to the dermis stimulating collagen & elastyn.  Non-ablative fractional resurfacing has no downtime with the exception of redness & swelling for less than 24 hours.  Mariah Carey & Brad Pitt are rumored to have had laser skin resurfacing treatments.
All of these treatments we have offered at our Orlando medical spa Winter Park Laser for 10 years and have treated some local celebrities whom shall remain nameless.   For more information on favorite celebrity cosmetic treatments go to www.winterparklaser.com

Professional Exfoliation Treatment A.K.A. Chemical Peel Benefits

Chemical peels have a deep history in the cosmetic treatment realm.  They were the first cosmetic treatment every created dating back to "Cleopatra" Egyptian times from 3,000 A.D. when enzymes/acids were used from sour milk (lactic acid today), and wine (tartaric acid) to exfoliate the skin leaving a glow once skin sloughed off.  However, even though chemical peels have proven their safety and efficacy throughout the years the term chemical peel can be frightening to many people who envision raw skin or the "Samantha from Sex in the City" peel episode.  So another great term for chemical peel is "Professional exfoliation treatment."
Professional Exfoliation Treatment A.K.A. chemical peel benefits are many but here are some of the top benefits for your skin.  Each exfoliating acid has a different mechanism of action resulting in various benefits which is why many manufacturers blend multiple acids to exfoliate dead skin cells and reveal healthier, new ones.
Alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolics, lactics, malics, and mandelics are water-soluble acids that disolve fibrous bonds that hold skin cells together allowing for easier exfoliation.  Glycolic acids are great for stimulating collagen while lactic acids are great for pigment lightening and extra hydration.
Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is very popular in many chemical peels such as VI peels by Kalil.  It is a great acid which dissolves aging dead skin cells to reveal new ones and produces collagen.
Chemical peels are also beneficial for reducing wrinkles by stimulating new collagen.  They also break down excess pigmentation caused by sun damage or "Melasma".  Many chemical peels include a popular ingredient: Retinoids which are a form of vitamin A. They are great at stimulating cell turnover, inhibiting pigmentation and producing new elastin and collagen.
Overall chemical peels and professional exfoliation treatments are ideal for anyone wanting to refresh and brighten their skin without a lot of downtime.

How IPL Photofacials remove Sun Damage

One of my all time favorite Cosmetic treatments is IPL which stands for Intense pulsed light treatments.  I have been in the cosmetic medical spa industry for 10 years as the Director of an Orlando Medical Spa Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center.  I have seen a lot of great treatments develop over the years but IPL is still my favorite.  IPL treatments are also known as photo-facials and photo-rejuvenation and target brown pigmentation and redness on the face and body.  I love IPL because of the no downtime of the procedure and the instant gratification benefits that a patient gets.
How do IPL Photofacials remove sun damage?  There are several brands and types of IPL lasers on the market.  We use the Palomar Max G Handpiece and get phenomenal results with it. All lasers are absorbed by a target.  IPL is absorbed by dark pigmentation such as sun spots and redness such as broken capillaries and redness.  IPL is pulsed of light that once absorbed by brown pigmentation they destroy the pigmented lesions and constrict broken capillaries.  It is a non-ablative and non-invasive treatment meaning that is does not damage the surface of the skin.   The intense light is delivered to the deeper parts of the skin know as the dermis and leaves the superficial part of the skin know as the epidermis untouched and intact.
Intense Pulsed Light treatments destroy the darkest pigmented sun spots first and work best on men and women with dark sun spots and light skin types. It is also great for broken capillaries and excessive redness caused by Rosacea or excessive sun damage.  IPL is an extremely safe treatment that has no downtime other than slight redness for 1-3 hours after treatment.  The brown sun spots get darker after treatment and gradually flake off. IPL photofacial treatments can be performed on the face, neck, chest, and any body area.

Top Ways to Prep Your Skin for Summer

As the seasons change so does your skin and therefore your skincare routine should change as well.  There are easy ways to make your skin glow for summer.   Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center is a leading medical spa in Orlando and is sharing top ways to prep your skin for summer.
#1 Stock up on the appropriate sunscreen.  What type of sunscreen you use matters! You can not just throw on a  watered down 5 year old sunscreen from the closet on your face and expect it to not clog your pores and be effective.  Always check the expiration date on your sunscreen.  It is important to choose sun protection that is full broad spectrum UVA/UVB and a minimum SPF 30-mineral sunscreen for the face is best so that it will not clog your pores.  Apply SPF 30 minutes before sun exposure.  For everyday facial SPF we love Skinmedica Daily Physical Defense® Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30+.
#2 Exfoliate: Exfoliation is extremely beneficial especially during summer.  It gives increased circulation and eliminates old dead skin cells so that your skin will look healthier and have a glow.  For a professional exfoliation chemical peels are a great solution.  For at home exfoliation we love Skinmedica Skin Polisher and Skinmedica AHA/BHA Exfoliation Cleanser.
#3 Injectable fillers and Botox can give some great instant results.  These treatments are not photo-sensitive so you don't have to monitor sun exposure before and after treatment.  Fillers such as Juvederm Voluma XC can give your face an instant liquid face-lift.  Botox cosmetic can make your forehead and crows feet wrinkles diminish for a smooth look in summer pictures.

How to get rid of a pimple quickly

So every girl or guy has been there-you have a big event coming up such as a wedding and what shows up but a dreaded pimple on your face.  While there are many ways to treat acne breakouts that occur often on a long term basis such as antibiotics, topicals, and lasers it is nice to have an easy way to get rid of a big pimple fast.
The easiest and fast way to get rid of a big cystic pimple is with a Kenalog injection.  This can be performed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant in a medical spa or physician office.  Kenalog is an injectable medication used to treat large painful acne lesions resulting in significant improvement in appearance and discomfort within 24 hours.  It is also used to treat poorly healed scars know as hypertrophic or keloid scars resulting in improved texture and appearance over several treatments.
While Kenalog injections should not be used frequently as an acne treatment it is an excellent way to get rid of a pimple fast before a big and important event.

The Most Common Aesthetic Procedures in Today’s Medical Spas

While Botox is a common everyday term, there are many other procedures that have become equally common especially with the increase in opening of Medical Spas. Here are the most common aesthetic procedures now found in Dermatology offices, Plastic Surgeons, and Medical Spa’s. One of the most common and most consistent aesthetic procedures today is the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) photo-facial. This is a great and easy treatment that can not only be performed on the face, but the chest, arms, back and legs as well. The IPL is used to remove pigmentation issues caused by sun damage, as well as broken capillaries, redness, and Rosacea. Juvederm Ultra Plus and Juvederm Voluma are extremely common as well. Cosmetic dermal fillers have grown in popularity because they work and they are the only treatment that can replace volume. Juvederm and fillers are mainly hualuronic acid based and when injected they can fill in hollow cheeks, plump up thin lips, and give a face-lift effect as well. Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing is becoming more popular especially for acne scars and laser stretchmark removal. Fractional lasers are non-ablative so there is little downtime and it typically only takes 4-5 treatments to remove decade old acne scars by stimulating collagen and elastyn. For more information on common aesthetic procedures in today’s medical spas go to www.winterparklaser.com

What Dermal Fillers is Right for You?

belotero under eyes A lot of people are looking for new non-invasive ways to look younger and get more volume. Dermal fillers allow for a natural "face-lift" like result without surgery. But what are dermal fillers & what are the differences between the various dermal fillers. I'm often asked in our Medical Spa Winter Park Laser in Orlando which dermal filler is the best? The answer is that there is a correct dermal filler for every person and need and not all sizes fit everyone. What is a dermal filler? A dermal filler is a product that is injected or placed into the dermis. In the United States these are the FDA approved Dermal Fillers on the market: Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Sculptra, Radiesse, Belotero Balance, and now there is Juvederm Voluma which will be available in January. Here are the top 3 Dermal Fillers in our opinion and the best uses and candidates for each. BELOTERO BALANCE®-We think it's best used to fill the tear troughs which corrects hollow sunken eyes and dark circles (a common complaint amongst women). It's also great to fill in deflated lips. BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler is made of a material called hyaluronic acid or HA. HA naturally exists as a component of your skin. By binding to water, it fills in wrinkles and folds, allowing immediate and smooth correction. JUVÉDERM™ ULTRA XC & JUVÉDERM™ ULTRA PLUS XC: We love Juvederm Ultra Plus for sunken in cheeks and deep smile lines or "bull dog" lines around the mouth. Juvederm Ultra is great to plump up lips with no volume or erase "smoker" lines around the mouth. JUVÉDERM™ Ultra injectable gel is a colorless hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into facial tissue to smooth wrinkles and folds, especially around the nose and mouth. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body. The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin byholding in water, and to act as a cushioning agent RADIESSE® DERMAL FILLER is best for deep volume loss in the cheek area and deep folds around the nose and mouth. It is great for those who have aged and lost weight to fill back in naturally lost volume for a "facelift" result. RADIESSE Volumizing Filler adds the volume and lift needed to diminish the signs of aging. What makes RADIESSE truly unique is the ability of the product to act as a scaffold under the skin, providing structure and stimulating your own natural collagen to grow. The production of natural collagen continues for several months, which extends beyond the initial effect of RADIESSE Volumizing Filler. For more information on what dermal filler is right for you contact Orlando Medical Spa Winter Park Laser at http://www.winterparklaser.com

How to Get a "Face-Lift" Result without Surgery

I operate a Medical Spa so obviously I get clients coming to me all the time with a desire to have a "face-lift" result without surgery. Fortunately, there are options to get this result with laser treatments & injectables. Ultimately, the desire is to have tighter skin, less wrinkles, a smoother textures, and less sagging skin & jowles. Here are the best non-surgical treatments to get a "facelift result" without surgery. The best way to get an actual "lifting effect" if you are bothered by sagging jowles is a "liquid face-lift" using dermal fillers such as juvederm, radiesse, and Belotero. A “liquid face-lift” using cosmetic dermal fillers such as Juvederm (a hyaluronic acid product) can be performed on several areas of the face or focus on “trouble spots” such as the deep naso-labial folds (laugh lines) around the nose and mouth. This treatment replaces volume lost giving one high cheeks again, improving the hollowness under eyes, lifting brows, lifting jowls and plumping lips, giving back the youthful look of full cheeks, lips, and less wrinkles. Once corrected this procedure can make women and men look 10-15 years younger instantly in 20-45 minutes. The next way to get a "non-surgical face-lift" effect is with Combo ablative fractional laser skin resurfacing. This treatment is perfect for those with fine lines, wrinkles, large pores or skin that is in need more tightening but don’t want the downtime of surgery or older CO2 and dot lasers that took 2-5 weeks of downtime. The Palomar fractional laser resurfacing only requires 4-7 days of healing and the holes close in 6 hours (on most lasers the holes close in 96 hours) which offers less risk of infection. Fractional ablative wrinkle treatment from Palomar uses beams of laser light that penetrates skin to just the right depth and with just the right level of heat to evoke a dramatic healing response that promotes collagen production, diminishing the appearance of fine lines around the face, especially the eyes and mouth which are most prevalent in clients without the discomfort compared to full surface CO2 resurfacing treatments. It’s a great alternative to a face-lift giving you tightening & texture improvement without surgery. For more information on non-surgical facelift results go to www.winterparklaser.com

7 Important Things to Know About Getting Botox Cosmetic Injections

Even though Botox has been around for decades now it continues to cause questions, and anxiety for many before they lose their "Botox virginity" in which most cases they then become life long worshippers of this little aesthetic miracle known as Botox cosmetic. Botox is a neurotoxin that causes temporary muscle paralysis and is used as a wrinkle-preventer. At our Orlando Medical Spa-Winter Park Laser & Anti-Aging Center we have injected Botox for over 7 years and have come up with the 7 most important things to know about getting Botox Cosmetic Injections. 1. It's been around for 4 decades & for 2 decades used for Cosmetic Purposes Originally used in the 1960s to help realign crossed eyes, it's now used in the treatment of many medical conditions including muscle spasms, facial tics, cerebral palsy, strokes, obesity, migraine & excessive sweating. It became FDA approved to fight wrinkles in the early 1990's. 2. It is derived from the botulism toxin but is Completely Safe Botox is a purified protein made by the botulism organism & It works by blocking the body's production of acetylcholine, therefore relaxing the muscles. There have been more safety studies on Botox than any other cosmetic treatment. 3. Once injected, it doesn't go into your bloodstream Botox is injected directly into a muscle and remains in that muscle only, once it fully sets in 4-14 days after injection it stays put. 4. It's preventative as well as corrective Many women & men in their 20s are having Botox because it freezes the muscles that cause deep lines thus slowing down the ageing process & preventing one from getting deeper lines. 5. There is no downtime Botox is injected with insulin needles and therefore has very little downtime or risks associated with the treatment. You might experience mild swelling & redness for a couple of hours in the injection site and that's about it. There is a very small chance of getting a pin point bruise in one of the injection sites. 6. It Works Botox Cosmetic is the #1 Cosmetic procedure in the world because it works. The results relax muscles & wrinkles within days and can instantly make men and women look younger. 7. How do you find a Reputable Medical Spa? You want to make sure that anyone injecting you is a licensed & board certified PA, ARNP or physician, and that they are experienced. If it is a spa make sure they have a Medical Director that is a Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist. You can check the BBB websites, google reviews & best of all ask your friends-they are the best sources in many occasions! Top 3 Reasons to Get Laser Hair Removal

After performing laser hair removal for 9 years at our Orlando medical spa Winter Park Laser we have definitely seen an increase in the amount of medical spas offering laser hair removal because it has become so popular. It's become popular because of how many benefits it has! Here are our top 3 reasons to get laser hair removal: #1 No more Ingrown Hairs (folliculitis): If you suffer from ingrown hairs-and many people do especially dark skinned men and women then this is the best investment you can give yourself! Laser hair removal works by destroying the active follicles in the anagen cycle (about 15-25% each treatments) so by getting even 2-3 treatments it will thin out enough of the hair so that 2 hairs aren't fighting to get through the same follicle which cause painful ingrown hairs. This treatment is safe for all skin types. #2 Being stubble free when you put on a swim-suit: The #1 dislike for beauty treatment among women is shaving-no one likes doing it! What is worse is a last minute pool adventure & you know you have embarrassing stubble. You don't have to worry about this with laser hair removal! #3 You save money compared to waxing or shaving over time Laser hair removal can be an investment, but it saves a lot of money over times. Razors and waxing can be expensive after you do it every month for years. For more information on laser hair removal go to www.winterparklaser.com

Let's face it-we've all had those rough nights that result in dark circles under our eyes the next morning, but for some people this is a constant issue that a "good night of sleep" just won't cure. In our Orlando Medical Spa-Winter Park Laser, dark under-eye circles & bags are a constant complaint. So here are our top treatments to help eliminate or reduce dark under-eye circles, wrinkles & bags. #1 Belotero Balance Dermal Filler injected into the tear-trough area Why? Belotero is a hyaluronic acid filler that is already hydrated-which means that we don't have to "under-fill" the tear trough area to see the result, it also allows you to go much higher in the dermal tissue. Belotero costs around $475-$525 per syringe for a 1 ML pre-filled syringe. We numb the area topically but here is also lidocaine mixed into every syringe for a comfortable procedure. The tear-trough area is sensitive to slight bruising and swelling may occur but overall there is little down-time. The results typically last around a year or 10-14 months on average. The result of Belotero in the tear-trough area can give clients a more youthful look, with less hollowness, dark circles & wrinkles in the eye area also making them look more rested. #2 EnerPeel for Eyes by Glytone-Series of 4 Chemical Peels just around the eyes & eye lid Why? This peel is especially designed for the eye area & combines Lactic acid (great for pigment issues) with TCA (tri-chloracetic acid) great for exfoliation and stimulating collagen. The results are a significant increase in skin firmness around eyes, Decrease in fine lines, wrinkles and coarse crow's feet around eyes, & a Decrease in dark circles. Belotero Balance-the New Filler on the Block

Belotero Balance is the newest Dermal Filler to come onto the market as of late. So our medical spa-Winter Park Laser has been offering fillers for 6 years & while we love Juvederm, & Radiesse, the new Belotero Balance is a little different and great for certain things that the others are note. We especially like it to treat the lips to plump them back up and great for superficial lines in younger clients or lip lines from smoking. Belotero is specially designed to integrate into your skin and mold to your distinct facial contours. By adapting to the individuality of your skin, it softens lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth for smooth and natural results that are uniquely you. BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler has unique properties that allow it to adapt within the skin for soft and even correction. The versatility of the product makes it strong enough to handle deep treatment areas such as nasolabial folds (smile lines around the mouth), yet soft enough to treat more delicate areas such as vertical lip lines (thin lines that appear above the lip line). BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler is made of a material called hyaluronic acid or HA. HA naturally exists as a component of your skin. Tip #1: Reputation is key-Always do your research on the company by doing an internet search to find online reviews, suggestions and check with your local Better Business Bureau. You can also look up how long they have been in business, what location they are found in and make sure that the person performing the service is licensed. A recommendation from a friend is always a great idea! Tip #2: Ask what technology/machine is being used on you and research that machine. We use the Palomar Starlux 500 and get great results. Pulsed light lasers can be just as effective as long as they are strong like Palomar. You want to ask how old the equipment is and if it has been serviced. Also, if you don’t feel it-it’s not working! Tip #3: Ask them who performs the treatment & if you will be with the same person every-time. Having the same experienced technician can make a difference because they know what settings they used on there and get used to your body and how you react. Also, at a franchise you will often get a different person every time as they have higher turn over this can often be someone inexperienced or not used to treating your body. Tip #4: Make sure you are a good candidate. If you are a blonde or redhead make sure that they have a handpiece especially for lighter hair or ask them to honestly tell you what type of result you can expect. If you have dark skin make sure they specialize in treating skin of color and hand a laser safe for dark skin, you can also ask them to perform a test spot on you to make sure you don’t have a negative reaction. Does Your Dad Secretly want "Brotox" for Father's Day?

One new trend in the cosmetic industry with men is "Brotox" or Botox for men. Men have the same aging concerns as women-wrinkles, sun damage, sagging skin so why shouldn’t they be able to fix them. Well now that social norms have given the wink and nod for the green light on laser skin resurfacing, fillers and Botox men are stepping our of their man caves and into medical spas. Competition in the job markets also plays a part in the influx as men want to stay looking young and healthy for that career competitive edge. Botox is a natural and purified protein that temporarily reduces contractions of the facial muscles that cause lines, by blocking nerve transmissions, leaving the skin unwrinkled. This creates a smooth and a more youthful appearance. Laser Hair Removal has also become very popular amongst men especially for those who suffer from ingrown hairs (folliculitis). Men don’t want the pain of waxing or the temporary benefits of shaving-they are looking for permanent solutions in laser hair removal. Laser hair removal for men is common for the beard area, back area, shoulder area and now bikini area has become popular as well. Laser hair removal is a fairly comfortable treatment after cooling gel is applied and topical numbing can be applied as well. So when you are deciding on what to get your husband, boyfriend of Father this Father's Day think of a less traditional gift such as "Brotox" or laser hair removal.
